She is a young queen destined to take the throne amidst a time of turbulent war. This piece was inspired by one of my much older (and more embarrassing, looking back) pieces, titled "The Queen".

I hoped with this image to bring justice to the character, which I failed at before, also it was sort of a test to see how much I'd improved...

I tried with this piece to bring the focus to her eyes in particular, both with the bright makeup and creating an illusion of sharpness and focus on her face.

(kudos to my sis for helping me write that )

I worked on this piece for quite a long time. (probably over two months, on and off *cough* ) There's a story behind it, and the poems describe it vaguely. In a nutshell, she's a young woman whose taken with her father's obsession against her mothers wishes and ends up giving her soul away to demons. She's able to read fates with her cards, so I've pictured her reading her own.

I've tried to create a sense of depth, focusing in on the character. Also, I wanted to bring out some emotion yet leave her almost lifeless in the cold...
